Located near Newton, Iowa, Iowa Hops is a small scale hop farm. Currently we have approximately 1200 hop plants which were planted in the spring of 2010. The hop field occupies approximately one acre of land. The varities we have are Cascade, Cenntennial, Mt. Hood and Sterling. During the first couple years, hop production by the plants is limited as the plants are using there energy to develop their root system. In 2011 we harvested approximately 150 pounds (dry weight) of hops which has been made into  Madhouse Brewing Company's Iowa Grown IPA.
